The book is a teachers' guide; the students' text is the Scripture itself!  The lesson plans give 4 to 5 hands-on activity suggestions for each lesson, plus the reading lesson, vocabulary lesson, and an introductory conversation activity. Activities are done on bulletin boards, chalkboards, butcher paper, or made by students.  An "ESL Survival Kit" is suggested, which lists everyday materials to gather for students to use to do the hands-on activities.  Teachers can select suggested activities to meet the needs of the varying learning/reading levels of their students. In addition, there are 50 pages of ESL teaching tips and explanations (see Table of Contents below)) and is suitable for high beginning to advanced students.

The students use the Scriptures directly as their text, rather than other formats like "stories" or "readings. Choose one of the low reading level Bible translations (go to the link to "Bible Readability" for details) so that your students  can read more easily and with more understanding.
